DECKORATORS NEW SCENIC SERIES GLASS BALUSTERS RECOGNIZED AS “MOST VALUABLE PRODUCT”

ST. LOUIS – September 2005 – For the second year in a row, Deckorators, Inc., a St. Louis-based company that designs and manufacturers innovative balusters and decorative accessories for use in deck building, has received a “Most Valuable Product” award from Building Products magazine.

This year the award was presented for one of the company’s newest products: the Scenic Series, tempered glass balusters available in three tints that were designed to replace the usual wood pickets that vertically line a deck rail.

The beveled glass balusters were first introduced in January at the International Builders Show and have since gone on to become one of the company’s most popular selections for deck builders and homeowners.

The four-inch wide glass balusters have beveled safety edges and were designed to maximize the view from a backyard deck. In addition, the balusters have a universal stair angle that allows the products to be installed easily on deck stair rails without the need for cutting or customizing. The products work with any type of wood as well as composite decking materials.

“We’re in the business of finding creative ways to make decks special places, and since people gather on decks to relax, entertain, and enjoy the view, using glass to open up that environment was an idea we wanted to try. The excitement we found in our test marketing confirmed that this is a product that people are going to enjoy,” says Kelly Jones, Deckorators’ president and CEO.

Building Products magazine lauded the Deckorators balusters for their architectural style and high-end design as well as for their installation ease.

Currently the company manufactures four lines of aluminum balusters: the Scenic Series of glass balusters, and Classic, Colonial, and Architectural balusters that are made of powder-coated, rust-free aluminum.
